Review of Wildflowers from Winter by Katie Ganshert

Wonderful Christian Fiction in

Wildflowers from Winter
by Katie Ganshert

Imagine a childhood that was not the happiest, a father who died of drowning after a stroke, a mother whom you are estranged from after she "took up" with the pastor who said your father was in hell for being a cripple due to the stroke....that he needed to repent as he had obviously sinned.....imagine the best friend who kept you alive and sane when everyone else in school turned against you....and the best friend then turns to God when you have turned against God....the farm where grandpa lived was your only safe place and mom moved you from there to a ratty old trailer in a ratty old trailer park.....
yes, imagine all that, and it all comes flooding back and brings you up short when mom calls Bethany Quinn to say that tragedy has struck....calls at work where she is never to receive personal calls to say that best friend, Robin, has had a terrible incident. Robin's husband is in the hospital and may not live and Bethany has not seen or spoken to Robin in over ten years. Robin has faithfully sent Christmas and birthday cards all these years with no response from Bethany and mom thinks you need to come home. Home to Peaks--the place you swore you would never go back to and you have made it now in Chicago in your work as an architect. You are living with a man you love, but after three years, there is little true indication of commitment. You do not want to go home, but then grandpa has a heart attack and Peaks is calling you back. Bethany can not turn her back on grandpa, but a big surprise awaits when Evan Price is there, not just working the farm for grandpa but living in the house with him and caring for him! Evan is attracted to Bethany and she feels it too. There is a magnetism between them.

When things really go bad for Robin and her own family, will Bethany run away, back to Chicago? or will she stay and help the friend who needs her and the man she is undeniably attracted to? Grandpa leaves her the 500 hundred acres of farmland, but throws a "surprise" in the will. How will she reconcile this? The money she can get from selling the farmland could allow her to start her own architect's firm. She could be her own boss, but can she turn her back on her loved ones? Things in Chicago throw new monkey wrenches in the mix and Bethany has major decisions to make. Can she make peace with her past? Can she ever forgive the ones who hurt her so much and move on?

Read this book and find out!! This was my first book to read by katie Ganshert and I am hooked!! I am eagerly looking forward to the sequel to the book, which will focus on Robin's life, Wishing on Willows.
