5 star Review of "A Horse for Kate"

Review of A Horse for Kate by Miralee Ferrell A horse of her own would be awesome. But Kate figures that might be a long way away, especially since she had to give up riding lessons and move to her late grandfather’s farm. Besides, it would be a lot more fun to have a best friend to ride with. When Kate discovers a barn on their new farm that’s perfect for a horse, and a dusty bridle too, she starts to think that her dream might come true. Then she meets Tori at school, who is totally the best. So when they discover a thoroughbred that appears to be all alone, could it be the answer to her prayers? Maybe. If she can convince her dad ... and figure out what’s going on with that horse. MY REVIEW:  I taught 6th grade Language Arts for 7 years and I love reading YA (Young Adult) fiction.  This is a lovely, fun read for adults and young adults.   Kate has a true passion for horses and after moving far from her friends, she wants a horse so badly.   She finds ...

Review of The Tattered Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter  The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club Book 2 Join Emma Yoder Miller, the Amish widow-turned-newlywed, as she leads another quilting class with a new group of unlikely students, all with tattered pieces of their lives that need mending. Members of the patchwork group find friendship, faith, healing, and restoration while gathered around their quilts, under the Father’s guiding hands—for only He can take what’s ragged and shabby from the lives of His children and turn it into beauty for His glory. My Review: I fell in love with Emma in The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club  and was thrilled to continue to read about Emma and her new marriage to Latham.  They work together to minister to others as they teach them to quilt.  They take very seriously the task of helping the unusual individuals God sends to their classes in a personal way. I really enjoyed seeing the characters from the first book and how th...

Review of Bubble Troubles

Review of Bubble Troubles (Mattie & Mark Miller-Double Trouble) by Wanda Brunstetter Welcome to Holmes County, Ohio, where twins Mattie and Mark Miller experience  Bubble Troubles . When their out-of-control worries begin to cause big trouble at every turn, will these energetic nine-year-olds learn the value of giving their worries to God before it’s too late? You’ll fall in love with the third release in the Double Trouble series from bestselling author, Wanda E. Brunstetter. My Review: Bubble Troubles is a delightful book written for children, but I certainly enjoyed it myself.  Twins, Mattie and Mark Miller, are adorable little Amish children who have plenty to worry about as they go about their busy lives.   This book teaches children to pray and give their worries to God instead of letting it upset them and rule their lives.   I felt like I was out in the snow sledding with them, walking home from the one-room school, and baking pumpkin cookie...
