"The Silent Corner" Book Review
The Silent Corner by Dean Koontz
(Jane Hawk series #1)
Book Description:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author of dark psychological suspense and modern classics of mystery and adventure comes a thriller that ventures into science, secrecy and danger.
“I very much need to be dead.”
These are the chilling words left behind by a man who had everything to live for—but took his own life. In the aftermath, his widow, Jane Hawk, does what all her grief, fear, and fury demand: find the truth, no matter what.
People of talent and accomplishment, people admired and happy and sound of mind, have been committing suicide in surprising numbers. When Jane seeks to learn why, she becomes the most-wanted fugitive in America. Her powerful enemies are protecting a secret so important—so terrifying—that they will exterminate anyone in their way.
But all their power and viciousness may not be enough to stop a woman as clever as they are cold-blooded, as relentless as they are ruthless—and who is driven by a righteous rage they can never comprehend. Because it is born of love.

MY REVIEW: Imagine your successful husband commits suicide and it makes no sense. He was not suffering from depression and yet, he had a driving need to be dead....to no longer exist. His widow, Jane Hawk has worked for the FBI and she notices a large number of people committing suicide. Like her husband's suicide, they do not make sense either. Jane becomes equally driven and it's to find out why her husband and so many others are killing themselves when they seemingly led happy, fulfilling lives. She is a character that one has to admire. She has guts and courage and she's smart.
I was highly impressed with this novel of Dean Koontz's. He makes the reader feel a great need to know what's causing such sorrow. Finding out what led to the suicides keeps the reader on the edge of their seats. You won't want to put this book down for a minute! So I recommend reading this one when you have a large amount of free time.
I am rating this book 5 stars and I highly recommend it to readers.
I received an ebook of this novel from netgalley and Bantam Publishing with request to write an honest review.
