Review of "Beyond Resolution"

Review of Beyond Resolution

Samara lives a life filled with fear. After being discarded and beaten by her trouble making boyfriend, she takes one easy out after another. Her choices lead her down the road of self-destruction, into the degrading world of stripping and a life spent looking over her shoulder. Until an encounter with a stranger on a Kings Cross Street provides the catalyst for a life changing event that leads her back home.
Resolution is the last place in the world Jed wants to be. One drastic decision has led him to the Island resort and back into strained contact with his brother, Flynn.
From the bright lights of Sydney to the blue waters of Resolution Island, Beyond Resolution is a story that provides a window into the joy of forgiveness, trust and peace.

MY REVIEW:   I rate this book 4 stars.  It was a bit hard for me to get into this story.  It is a lovely story of peace, forgiveness and second chances.  Returning to Resolution was never part of Sam's plan  but she finds that love is waiting there for her in the most unexpected places and ways.   She has lived a lifetime feeling unloved by a father who did not get to know her and love her, but her stepmother adores her and maybe, just maybe, Sam will learn to trust and actually allow this precious barren woman to love her.   Truly love her.  Learn about God's love and the love of true family and loyalty in Beyond Resolution.
I received a free print copy of this book from the Reader's Only Club of THE BOOK CLUB NETWORK or bookfun.org.

Review of Book One: How Did We Become Angry? Lamb Ministries 7 x 7

Review of Book One:  How Did We Become Angry?

Lamb Ministries 7 x 7

by Paula Rose Michelson

I have studied psychology as a minor to accompany my Elementary Education degree and I have read countless books, both Christian and secular dealing with recovery from childhood abuse, and Paula Rose Michelson has accomplished in one short book what all those other books could not. She has demonstrated how to utilize God's Holy Word, the Bible, to restore the lost innocence and forgive oneself. The anger that so many of us have walked around clutching to our chests like a badge can be gone forever and God’s peace can replace it. I truly appreciate the way the author has readers personalize the Scripture verses they say to affirm themselves. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to abuse survivors as well as pastors, teachers, and counselors who are working with those who are recovering from past abuse. I look forward with great anticipation to the other books in her series

Wynter Evans is a promising young reporter for a television station in St. Louis, but even a bright future doesn't take away her pain over the disappearance of her brother nine years ago. So when she stumbles across a photograph of a boy with an eerie resemblance to him, she can't pass up the chance to track him down. With research for work as her cover, she sets out with one of the station's photogs for the place where the picture was taken: the town of Sanctuary.
Almost as soon as she arrives, she meets the town's handsome young mayor, Rueben King, and together they begin to uncover long held secrets that could tear the small town apart and change everything Wynter thought she knew about her life. As the truth of her family's past hides in the shadows, it's clear someone will stop at nothing to keep the answers she's searching for hidden forever--even if the cost is Wynter's very life.

MY REVIEW:  Murder, kidnapping, Old Order Mennonite, oh my, which of these does not fit????  They are all a part of Nancy Mehl's newly released Gathering Shadows.  I absolutely love this book!  5 Stars + !!!   Meet Zac, the cocky young photographer, for instance, you kind of love to hate him at first and then, all of a sudden the young ponytail swinging fella develops a heart!!!   He actually becomes one of my favorite characters.  And who could not love Wynter Evans, the young reporter who just wants to get a good story and oh, yes, find her long-ago kidnapped brother......the one her family thought was dead.  But now she sees him wearing Old Order Mennonite clothing and living in the sweet, quiet, quaint little town of Sanctuary.   You must read this to discover what happens?  Will they find the boy? Is he Wynter's brother?  Or is she just chasing a dream?
I was given a copy by the publishers in exchange for my honest review and one by the author so that I might offer a giveaway.
